On June 18, “Latam PCI” successfully held its face-to-face assembly within the framework of the “Conference & Expo Fire” held in Orlando, Florida. This assembly, which was attended by the leaders of fire safety in Latin America, was held in both face-to-face and virtual formats. Participants: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela. Dominican Republic and Uruguay. In this Latin American event, several points were presented, among which the following stand out:
  1. The progress of the 04 strategic axes that are being worked on in specialized groups:
    1. Visibility: The achievement before the United Nations was highlighted, for having obtained the authorization to celebrate the “World Fire Prevention Day” every year as of October 8, 2024, and several lines of action are being worked on for effective dissemination at the international level. It should be noted that meetings have been held with Europe, the Middle East and even South Africa to support this important dissemination.

    1. Education: The progress of the Virtual Library project was presented, in which everyone will have access to educational material “of all kinds”, mostly free of charge, provided by Latam PCI’s expert associates, from Canada to Argentina, which will be in Spanish and Portuguese.

    1. Certification: The progress of this important project was presented, which seeks to “Develop a certification of competencies for specialists in Fire Protection in the region”, which is quite a challenge as it includes: Suppression, Alarm and Detection, as well as Passive Protection.

    1. Regulation: A long awaited study was presented regarding the regulatory status in Latin America. This important study, in which all the members of Latam PCI participated, shows, among other important data:
      1. Countries where NFPA standards are mandatory for new buildings in at least one city.
      2. Evaluation of the percentage of the population impacted by these NFPA standards.
      3. What other type of regulation is applicable and in which sector.

Independently of our session, within this important event, we were able to reinforce those international alliances that are very important for the continuity of our regional projects, which are advancing rapidly and successfully.
