Code of Ethics of the Latin American Fire Protection Network

The Latin American Fire Protection Network (LATAM PCI), It is a non-profit organization that brings together organizations involved in fire protection in Latin America, whose main function is to unify and promote a professional culture of fire protection by authorities, users and society in the region.

LATAM PCI members recognize that the association's mission is to transform the way we deal with fire problems in Latin America, making fire protection a relevant issue from a social, technical and regulatory perspective. Consequently, LATAM PCI members must conduct themselves with transparency, knowledge, honesty, impartiality, justice and equity.

In their commitment to contribute to the organization's objectives, LATAM PCI members must be an example for other professionals in the region, seeking to constantly improve their skills and acting within a framework of professional behavior, aligned with the highest principles of ethical conduct in a balanced relationship for the interests of the public, clients, employees, colleagues and the community.

LATAM PCI members are expected to act in accordance with the provisions of this Code of Ethics and the applicable laws in the countries in which they operate, and to actively encourage others to do the same. Members must use their good judgment in applying the principles set forth below.

Rectitude: All activities will be carried out in a transparent and fair manner. Bribes or any other type of benefits will not be given or received to grant or obtain advantages in business or any type of activity. Corruption in any form is unacceptable in the procurement processes.

Honesty: Act truthfully and fairly, without putting your own needs or interests before these values. Firmly follow codes of conduct characterized by rectitude, integrity and integrity.

Conflict of interest: All interested parties will be informed in a timely manner of any known or potential conflicts of interest, or other circumstances that may influence the judgment or the quality of the work. It is recommended at all costs to avoid exposing a conflict of interest, being “judge and jury” in the development of the projects (engineering, procurement, execution, reception).

Social sense: Always act with the consideration that the exercise of the profession constitutes, in addition to a technical and economic activity, a social function. Fair payment to collaborators or subcontractors will be ensured, observing and guaranteeing compliance with current national regulations on industrial safety and safety at work.

Legality: Business, commercial transactions and other public and private activities are carried out within the framework of the rules, legislation and constitution of the country in which it operates, including respect for intellectual property in professional practice. Quality: Products, services and other activities in the field of Fire Protection Systems are offered and delivered with a commitment to quality and are carried out with regulatory discipline. Likewise, product quality is not sacrificed for price, nor are oversized, counterfeit, non-permitted by local regulations or unnecessary equipment for the client supplied or installed.

Professional competence: Members shall conduct their work and render their services in such a manner as to maintain and enhance the honor, prestige and integrity of their profession. They shall accept responsibility for their actions, give due credit to the contributions of others, and accept no credit for the work of others. Fire Protection requires specialized knowledge (from concept, design to implementation), therefore, ongoing development is essential to strengthen the professional competence of work teams.

Healthy competition: The partners participate in a free and open market, without any interest in harming competitors, economically or in their reputation, and promoting healthy competition. Activities in the field of Fire Protection have an economic value; services are not provided free of charge in order to obtain benefits from contracting.
